Progressive Council

Progressive Council serves as an umbrella organization to several constituent progressive student organizations that each have voting delegates that serve as their representatives on the council. Groups in Progressive Council

Body of Animal Rights Campaigners (BARC): BARC is an animal rights activst group that advocates for the rights of all sentient creatures through education and other peaceful means, largely involving the promotion of vegetarian and vegan diets.

Campus Peace Action (CPA): CPA is pro-peace organization that strives to create awareness about peaceful solutions to conflict on all levels in order to bring about a time of peace on campus and in our community, nation, and world.

College Democrats: College Democrats strives to provide a presence for the Democratic Party on both the UCF campus and in the Orlando community through helping with campaigns, holding on-campus events, hosting speakers, and promoting student outreach.

Eco-Advocates of Central Florida: Eco-Advocates is an environmental activist group that focuses on promoting sustainability in the UCF community and beyond.

Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual Student Union (GLBSU): GLBSU is a fellowship of students who share a common goal of eliminating homophobia in society and mending the detrimental effects of hate, ignorance, and intolerance towards gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people.

National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML): NORML works to create an awareness about marijuana laws and their relation to constitutional rights on and around UCF in order to help bring about the eventual decriminalization of the possession, use, and cultivation of cannabis.

Students for a Democratic Society (SDS): SDS is a radical organization of students that hopes to transform our campus and the Orlando metro area into a participatory democratic society, where at all levels the people have control over the decisions which affect them and the resources on which they are dependent.

Voices for Planned Parenthood (VOX): VOX exists to educate the university community about reproductive health and rights, to translate increased awareness into pro-choice activism on campus, and to serve as a coalition partner to state, national, and international reproductive rights efforts.
